Get to know Family Physician Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma, who serves patients in Fremont, California.

Specializing in family medicine, Dr. Sharma is the lead physician of the Musculoskeletal/Injection Clinic at VA Fremont Clinic in California. He has held this position since November of 2011. 

VA Fremont Clinic is a part of the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, which is a teaching hospital providing a full range of patient care services with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. Comprehensive health care is provided in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care.

Prior to his current endeavors, Dr. Sharma served as an Associate Staff Physician at Doctor On Demand from December of 2013 until August of 2015. As such, he offered full-spectrum Telemedicine and consultations to patients of all ages.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, he is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the Michigan State Medical Society.

A 2002 graduate of St. Christopher’s College of Medicine, Dr. Sharma went on to perform his residency in family medicine at Ascension St. John Hospital in 2008. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Psychology/Neuroscience from the University of Michigan, and a Master of Business Administration degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from American InterContinental University.

Recognized for excellence in his field, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility. 

On a more personal note, Dr. Sharma speaks several languages, including English, Punjabi, and Hindi.
